BJM Africa Desk

Our offering
When local stimulus drives markets it is important to be close to the ground. For some time, BJM has maintained a network of custodial partners in key African markets, enabling speedy settlement between long-term associates. More recently, these resources have been complemented by a network of partner brokers at stock exchanges across the continent.

We will be providing access to equity markets in: Mauritius, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Zambia, Nigeria, Egypt, Malawi, Ghana, Morocco, Botswana, BRVM (the West Africa regional bourse covering Cote d`Ivoire, Senegal, Benin, Togo, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger & Guinea Bissau), Tunisia, Namibia, Kenya, Swaziland and Uganda.

The Africa desk offers a dedicated Africa service yet BJM’s international stature and global relationships enable our traders to take significant positions in a wide range of securities in numerous jurisdictions. We’re big enough to break old liquidity constraints while retaining tight focus on individual African markets and counters.

Who we are
The BJM Africa Desk is part of the Barnard Jacobs Mellet Group, South Africa’s largest independent stock broker. We are represented in major South African centres and in Britain and the USA.

In the 2008 South Africa analysts’ awards, BJM was ranked first overall for equity research and equity dealing – the informational and transactional pillars that underpin our Africa desk offering. Our analysts were ranked top in 12 categories, the highest tally of category firsts in South Africa’s investment industry.
