BJM Securities - Services

The BJM Securities business remains the engine room of the group's operations, providing our clients with a broad offering of research products and execution capabilities in both the equity and fixed income markets.  We are predominately an agency broker, thereby eliminating the prospect of a conflict of interest with our clients.

Our consistently highly ranked research team comprises approximately 30 investment professionals that provide coverage on over 100 stocks listed on the JSE, economic trends, quantitative analysis and investment strategy.

By combining a bottom up and top down approach to investment research and the back-up of an experienced execution team, BJM continues to win research mandates from our major clients.

BJM has always been active in the facilitation of cross-border transactions in both South African equities and bonds. This has naturally led to the development of a significant international client base.

Securities Broking

Securities broking is the core business across most of the BJM Group. Although the Group developed from equity and fixed income broking for South African-based institutional clientele, the range of securities that are traded has expanded as well as the client base to which broking services are offered. It is now possible to trade in derivative products (futures and options), offshore equities and fixed income securities, and some unlisted equity offerings.

Individual Equities Futures

Futures contracts on individual equity shares are products available to the South African investor. These derivative instruments are attractive for the potentially high gearing that can be achieved on one's investment. However, futures are higher risk than direct share ownership and investors must be familiar with futures and the margin requirements before investing.
